Hi Thomas. The good news is that MLO handles this really ell, I use it
all the time.
As was recently mentioned on a different thread, the widget shows the
current contents of the view. So if you go to the full app and edit a
view, you can then go back to the widget and it will reflect your edits.
But you want more than that, you want to have multiple widgets on screen
at once, showing different results. For this you will need different views.
So, go to the full app and tap the hamburger icon at the top left to
bring up the view menu. Tap EDIT at the bottom left to bring up view
edit. Pick a view you want to use as a basis for your edits. (I would
start with Active Actions but Active by Context might be more
comfortable for you).
Select the chosen view by longtapping it. It will be highlighted and the
number "1" will appear at the title bar. Tap the three dot icon at the
top right for a menu and select "duplicate. You will get a new view with
a name like "Active Actions - Copy". Repeat this to create as many new
views as you plan on using.
Now we are ready to set up the new views. Make sure that no views are
selected - the title should say "Edit Views". If there is a number there
(even if its zero) you have to clear it by tapping the arrow or the back
button. Now quicktap one of the new views to bring up the Custom view
settings. Tap on View Name and enter a meaningful name, like "Errands"
or "Phone" and tap Rename.
Tap where it says "Advanced Filter (none)" to bring up the Advanced
Filter screen. (If it does not say "none" you picked a too-complicated
view to start with. Start over.) At the bottom left tap on the green
icon above "add condition". Change "Field" from Caption to Contexts. tap
on Value and click *ONE* context, matching the name you chose for this
view. Click OK at the bottom then Save at the top right, then on the
Advanced filter check the checkmark at the top left and on Custom View
Settings click the left arrow.
That's it, you have now created a custom view showing just one context.
Do it again for each other context then go to your widgets and point
each one to the appropriate view.
In addition to getting your single context views, this also introduces
you to Advanced Filters which is arguably the most powerful thing in all
of MLO. But if you found it intimidating, an alternative is to use the
main app to load each view, then tap the three dot icon in the lower
right to expand the bottom menu and then the context filter with the
funnel icon. Tick the box for *ONE* context then hit the left arrow at
top left to return. This method is easier and quicker but leaves you
with a banner showing the filter content. Worse, if you mistakenly hit
the X on the banner it removes the banner. So doing it with Advanced
Filter seems more stable to me.
Hope this helps

Post by Thomas KI'd like to be able to create different widgets that show only tasks for
@phone etc. At present all that is possible is to show all tasks grouped
by context, but this becomes a very long list to scroll through.
Please implement, or let me know how to achieve it!
Take care!
Thomas
